Chick pops

These are based on Bakerella’s cake pops.A few days ago I did a post on how to make cake pops so you should probably read that post first. HERE. I included a video from Bakerella, the originator of cake pops. She said she saw cake balls at a party and knew she had to know how to make them. It was a short jump from there to cake pops, I guess. Her story is interesting. 



The chick pops are just as easy as making cake pops. Instead of making a ball shape, I made a “chick” shape which was just an elongated blob. Since the candy melts are made in all colors, I bought some nice yellow melts, put the stick in the “chick” from the top, not the bottom. I put it slightly in back of the head, not directly at the top. Then I dipped the “chick” in the melted yellow candy. At this point the “beak” (candy from Wilton’s) has to be put in while the candy coating is still soft.
To make the eyes you can use an edible pen but  Joann’s only had the packet of pens for $9 so I decided to melt some chocolate and use the tip of a fork to make the two eyes. Worked just as well.

I bought some nutcups (little white paper cups) from Joann’s and put some edible green straw in them so I could settle the little “chick” in a bed of straw.  Then I put the whole thing in a really pretty, Eastery looking cupcake paper. It has the appearance of a little miniature Easter Basket, I think.

 Nashville Wraps has some nice cellophane bags and then I added a yellow, gauzy type bow around the whole thing. It’s pretty sturdy believe it or not. The bag holds the whole thing together.
